Welcome

Welcome to the Summerville Church of Christ. We are glad to have you as our honored guest. We hope your visit here will be both enjoyable and informative. May God continue to bless you as you strive to serve Him!

Who Are We?

We strive to restore the New Testament Christianity. We speak only where the Bible speaks and are silent where it is silent. We are nondenominational. The Bible is our only guide. It shows us all truth in how to worship, live daily and how to become saved. We respect the authority of the scriptures. We offer home Bible studies, Bible filmstrips, and Bible correspondence courses. We are a spiritual family. Let us know if we can help you in any way to become closer in your relationship with God.

We desire to be and claim to be Christians only (Acts 11:26). The Bible is our sole authority, and is taught in our classes and from the pulpit each time we assemble. We accept the challenge of producing book, chapter, and verse for the things we teach and do. All things are done decently and in an orderly fashion (1Corinthinas 14:40). First century Christians assembled on the first day of every week to worship God (Hebrews 10:25).

Prayer is an important part of our worship (Acts 2:42, I Thessalonians 5:17). Our singing is without instrumental accompaniment (Ephesians 5:19). The Lord's Supper is observed each Sunday (Acts 20:7). Each member supports the work of the church by returning to the Lord a portion of what they have prospered the past week (I Corinthians 16:1-2). We preach the Bible to be verbally inspired Word of God and the answer to today's problems (II Timothy 3:16-17).

You cannot enter Heaven unless you do God's will (Matthew 7:21). If you love the Lord you will keep His commandments (John 14:15). Jesus is the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him (Hebrews 5:9). We must obey from the heart the form (pattern) of doctrine which the Bible delivers (Romans 6:17). The Gospel is the Good News that Jesus died for sin, was buried and raised, never to die again (I Corinthians 15:1-4). We obey that pattern when we put to death our sinful ways and are buried in water, raised to walk a new life (Romans 6:4).
