dALE COOK

I was born in Kentucky, and raised all my life in the Church of Christ.  I have been married to Jackie for over 53 years, and we have been blessed with three children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.  I spent 38 years in the Air Force (active and reserve duty) along with over 41 years in Civil Service. Jackie and I were charter members of the Summerville congregation 50 years ago, and I served as a deacon from 1980 until I was installed as an elder in June of 2018

I grew up in a congregation of the Church of Christ in Lebanon, Virginia that my parents helped found, and met my wife, Katy, in 1973 when we were both attending Harding University.  We were married in 1975 and have been attending Summerville since 1983. I currently work for the US State Department. Katy has served as Church Secretary for almost 20 years, and I have served here in various capacities, including as a Shepherd for the past fifteen years. We have two grown sons and five grandchildren. I was installed as an elder in 2003.

My wife, Ann, grew up in the Essex Village Church of Christ, and I was baptized there just three weeks prior to our wedding in 1990.  After college and graduate school, we came home to Charleston and pursued careers in education. I spent 20 years in the classroom as a history teacher and track coach before becoming Athletic Director at Porter-Gaud School in 2014.  We began to work and worship at Summerville in 2001.  Ann and I are both passionate about the work at Palmetto Bible Camp and the Southeastern Children's Home, where I serve  as a board member. We have three grown children and two grandchildren. I was installed as an elder in June of 2018.
